Vanishing Thoughts And Collecting Links

The Pain

I had a deep, thoughtful post I was compiling in my head last night as I drifted off to bed…. but I decided to write it in the morning and now I’ve forgotten everything including the core topic! Maybe it will come back to me if I ramble a bit…. I think I need to try catch up on some sleep before jumping on the plane to GDC in ONE WEEK!!! Woooooo!

I’ve long had a collection of various links I’ve found useful at some point.. now I’m going to put them up here for the off chance someone might read it and find it useful 😀

Developmental Issues

As for general development… this month has sucked. I’ve been far too busy with my other business that I haven’t had a chance to devote enough real time to getting any game dev work done. Hopefully I can turn that around in the next week and finalise a couple of exciting things.

I’ve been porting Missile Control across to the Ouya.. which required a lot of changes to make it controller friendly. The main change being an entirely new game mode designed specifically with the controller in mind (but also works nice with the touch screens). This game mode will be released as a stand-alone game for the Ouya/Android devices/iOS devices as well as being included in the main Missile Control package! I’m in two minds whether to bring it to the Sydney IGDA Show+Tell next week. I haven’t been to an event of that format before and I don’t know if it would work. Meh

The other Ouya game that’s almost ready to show is a re-vamped version of Ignite The Skies. It’s been ported from XNA into Unity and is looking pretty cool! I’m so keen to finally finish this game off. Bring it across to Unity has been the final motivator to get it out the door. That will be our April goal!

PAX + GDC Are Rad

At the end of the day I probably won’t get anything done this week because I’ll be too excited about GDC! Super keen to meet as many people as I can when I’m over there. Drop me a line via twitter

I should have gone to PAX East too but I didn’t realise they were so close to each other! Next year for sure. Meanwhile, later this year we will be at PAX AUSTRALIA with our own booth! AND we will be showing a new game we’ve  just started to work on in earnest, but more about that later.

Much love,

Ryan.
